Family Counseling
Family counseling focuses on how to improve your family relationships and the dynamics between family members. Typically these sessions involve all members of the family participating whenever possible. We will discuss goals as a family and work together to improve communication and solve problems. Family therapy is ideal for families who are experiencing a high degree of conflict and stress, blended families, adoptive families, and families who have experienced trauma, loss or significant change together. Child-Parent Psychotherapy
Some of our counselors have specialized training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), a therapy model specifically designed to address trauma and attachment-related concerns in children ages birth-6 years old. CPP starts with parent-only sessions to share information on the child’s development and prepare for how to introduce therapy to the child. This is followed by sessions with the parent (or caregiver) and child together which involve the parent and child playing together and play-based interventions, facilitated by our counselors to promote bonding and attachment. CPP is ideal for young children who have experienced trauma, domestic violence, or separation from a parent or primary caregiver. Click here to learn more.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy focuses on just the needs of the individual. Though we may talk about relationships, parenting concerns, or family dynamics, it will be solely focused on your perspective and your goals. Counselors at Family Roots are trained in perinatal mental health to address symptoms such as Postpartum Depression or Anxiety. Our counselors are also able to provide individual therapy for teens or adults dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, major life changes, grief and loss, or other challenges you might be facing. Individual counseling is also available via secure video for those located in Oregon if you are unable to make it to an office. Click here to learn more.
Couples Therapy
We help couples who are planning to have their first child, or are struggling to adjust to the demands of parenthood. Couples therapy focuses on the couple relationship and involves both members of the couple coming together to increase satisfaction and improve communication in their relationship. Our counselors will help you get your relationship back on track. Couples therapy is ideal for those who are feeling disconnected from their partner, angry, resentful, or are finding themselves drifting apart. Right after having children is often when relationship satisfaction is at its lowest for many couples – we can help change that! Click here to learn more.
