As the founder, owner, and director of Family Roots Therapy, Kaleigh’s focus is to ensure that we can continue providing high quality, specialized mental health care to children and families. Though she is not currently accepting clients, she continues to supervise and train other therapists to do this important work. Kaleigh understands the need for specialization and training in mental health focused on very young children, new parents, and families. Before founding Family Roots Therapy, Kaleigh worked in community based mental health programs, a school-based program, and in crisis response and intensive services for children and teens. She found that very few programs truly specialized in supporting children and families – they were often treated as an afterthought, and therapists in these programs were often overworked and unsupported. She created Family Roots in an effort to change that.

Kaleigh is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College in Madison, WI in 2012 and has been a practicing therapist ever since. She has received specialized training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, a counseling method focused on attachment and healing parent-child relationships after exposure to trauma or violence in children ages birth-6. She has also received additional advanced training in perinatal mental health and solution-focused therapy. Her passion is helping parents understand their young children’s challenging behaviors and teaching them new tools and skills to connect with their children.

In addition to counseling, Kaleigh is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and enjoys helping parents and professionals enhance their skills and knowledge through speaking engagements or workshops. She has spoken at conferences and other events on topics such as leadership, family therapy, engaging parents in treatment, and Positive Discipline. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her children, dogs, and spouse.
